I’ve always love this old gospel tune since I first heard it when I first gave my life to Jesus many years ago. It had to be one that I would work up as an instrumental gospel jazz song. I don’t remember all of the lyrics but the first stanza has stuck with me for years. It’s a wonderful reminder to not get weighed down by the stuff we deal with in this temporary world. Our life in Jesus is for eternity and is of more infinite worth than anything in this world.
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
(by Helen H. Lemmel}
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2)
“Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:1-2)
“I lift up my eyes to the hills.From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.” (Psalm 121:1-3)
